Severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes, are likely to develop this afternoon from parts of the lower Ohio Valley into the southern Plains. An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) outlook has been issued. Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Alabama
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

North Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this evening

  • Northwest winds up to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Summary:
Scattered severe thunderstorms (Slight Risk Level 2 of 5) are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening from southern Lower Michigan into parts of the Midwest/Ohio Valley. A cold front sweeping across the north-central U.S. will bring additional heavy snow along the mountains and foothills of the northern Rockies into Thursday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-15, I-94, I-25, I-20, I-55, I-22, I-65


Montana
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Thursday morning

  • Snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches, highest over the higher terrain and along the foothills. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Slushy, slick roads could create hazardous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact today's morning commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Thursday morning

  • Heavy snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations between 8 and 16 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph creating blowing snow.
  • Impacts: Heavy wet snow and gusty winds may cause tree and power line damage resulting in power outages. Recreation in the high country will be impacted by heavy accumulating snow and blowing snow at times. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

Mississippi
Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 PM CDT Saturday evening

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening

  • West to northwest winds gusting to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms Tuesday with threats for significant severe hail and tornado potential over southern Iowa into northern Missouri and west-central Illinois. Elevated to critical fire weather is possible Tuesday due to gusty winds and dry conditions over parts of the southern High Plains and northeastern Montana. Nebraska
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

 Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water may be over roadways.

 Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM CDT this evening

  • East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening

  • Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Strong northwesterly winds will create dangerous travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. Reductions in visibility associated with blowing dust, where present, will locally exacerbate already dangerous driving conditions.

Montana
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Thursday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches.
  • Impacts: Slushy, slick roads could create hazardous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT Thursday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches.
  • Impacts: Roads will likely become slushy, slick and hazardous. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms will continue to develop across the Upper Ohio Valley region into portions of the interior Northeast through this evening. Damaging winds are the main threat however, large hail and a couple of tornadoes are also possible. A Pacific storm in the West continues to persist producing mountain snow and moderate to locally heavy coastal/valley rain. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-82, I-84, I-15, I-80, I-40, I-25, I-10, I-94, I-59


Colorado
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 3 PM MDT Tuesday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 18 inches, heaviest over the northern Front Range mountains. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph, strongest across the southern Front Range mountains.
  • Impacts: Roads will likely become slick and hazardous, with reduced visibility in blowing snow at times. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT Tuesday afternoon

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially on ridge tops.

New Mexico
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles from dangerous crosswinds and blowing dust reducing visibility.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles from dangerous crosswinds and blowing dust reducing visibility.

West Virginia
Flood Warning remains in effect until 4:15 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Minor flooding is forecast.

A strong storm will bring a broad band of rain with embedded heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms in northwest Hawaii in the vicinity of Kauai that may produce flash flooding impacts through today. Heavy rain in northern New England may cause flash and minor river flooding impacts due to the combination of rainfall and recent snowmelt. New Hampshire
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain and snowmelt.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small streams. Rapid runoff falling running over steep terrain will lead to washouts. The flood conditions will worsen through the late morning hours as snowmelt accelerates. Water over roadways. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Heavy rainfall along with warm and humid conditions will cause rapid melting of the snowpack from the foothills northward. This will increase runoff into streams and rivers. Moderate to heavy rainfall over partially frozen ground will support the potential for flash flooding as well as river flooding. Disruption to travel is likely on Friday.

Virginia
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EDT Saturday evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Around one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property will experience shallow flooding.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this afternoon

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water will be around 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, larger creeks, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways.

  • West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Friday morning

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: At this level, widespread roadway flooding occurs in coastal and bayside communities and along inland tidal waterways. Many roads become impassable. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to occur.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM EDT Friday morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.

California 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PDT this morning

  • Visibility of one-quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions in dense fog on portions of Interstate 5, 405, western I-8 and Highway 163.

  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris and damage property. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles and those pulling trailers. Periods of blowing snow may also cause reduced visibility over mountain passes.

New Jersey
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Widespread roadway flooding occurs along tidal waterways. Some roads become impassable. Minor damage to vulnerable structures may begin to occur.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms are expected across the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley through Tuesday. The main threats are damaging winds and large hail as well as a few tornadoes. Heavy to excessive rainfall may lead to flash, urban, small stream and minor to moderate river flooding. Critical fire weather conditions will persist over the Southern Plains on Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-94, I-25, I-55, I-57, I-24


Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Wet snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches over the highest hills. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Lower elevations, including most populated locations, will see little if any snow accumulation and minimal travel difficulties with roads remaining wet or slushy. The impactful snow accumulations will be confined to the highest hilltops across the advisory area, including elevated portions of I-90 and US-212.

Ohio 
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Lowland flooding near the river increases, as well as backwater flooding in southern Clermont and Brown Counties in Ohio and Bracken County in Kentucky.

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Up to 1 foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

Arkansas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Wednesday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways. 

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this afternoon

  • North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Low pressure meandering through the Gulf of Maine will continue snow showers over northern New York, New England, and the spine of the Appalachians in West Virginia Friday into Saturday. A Pacific storm crossing the western U.S. will continue to bring gusty to high winds, low elevation rain, and high elevation snow to the region through Friday before moving to the central U.S. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-84, I-80, I-15, I-11, I-40, I-17, I-10, I-8, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-99, I-86, I-81, I-695


California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. Minor tree damage possible.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 10 inches above 6000 feet, 3 to 6 inches from 5000 to 6000 feet, and up to 3 inches above 3000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Delays or temporary closures are possible over many mountain roads, including Interstate 5 over the Grapevine.

Arizona
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts 55 to 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust will lead to reduced visibility, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 55 mph in the Sky Islands and White Mountains.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

New Jersey
Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Water over roadways.
