U.S. Weather Update 9.4.25

Summary:
A significant late season heat wave continues in the interior Pacific Northwest for at least one more day before easing somewhat Friday into Saturday. A combination of monsoonal moisture and tropical moisture ahead of tropical cyclone Lorena will bring a marginal to slight risk of excessive rainfall across the southwest U.S. through Saturday which may bring areas of flooding.  Impacted Lanes: I-15, I-90, I-94, I-29, I-64, I-265, I-77, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-90. 


Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect from 9 AM this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening.

  • Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph wind gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power bumps.  Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT this evening.

  • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.  Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. 

Minnesota
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.  
  • Impacts: Low-lying areas and some roads along river begin flooding.

Tennessee
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM EDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

Kansas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning.

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Arizona
Flood Warning remains in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.  Low-water crossings may be flooded.
