U.S. Weather Update 9.3.25

Summary:
Hot to extremely hot temperatures are in place across coastal southern California again today and the interior Northwest U.S into Thursday, with the Pacific Northwest carrying the potential for record-breaking high temperatures. A combination of monsoonal moisture and tropical moisture ahead of tropical cyclone Lorena will bring heavy rainfall and the potential for flooding through the week. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-81, I-75, I-76.


Iowa
Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 7:30 AM CDT this morning.

  • 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
  • Impacts: Hail damage to vehicles is expected.  Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Minnesota
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Low-lying areas and some roads along the river begin flooding, along with some basements of houses along the river. 

Tennessee
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:30 AM EDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

Kansas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning.

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

California
Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.  Low water crossings may be flooded.
