U.S. Weather Update 9.16.25

Summary:
An upper trough and frontal boundary will focus showers and thunderstorms across portions of the Plains through early Tuesday; A few severe thunderstorms along with heavy rainfall are expected. Meanwhile, low pressure off the Southeast Coast will bring inclement weather across the mid-Atlantic coast through Tuesday. This system is forecast to meander off the coast then track inland early this week. Impacted Lanes: I-20, I-75, I-55, I-76, I-29, I-70, I-40


North Carolina 
 Flood Watch remains in effect until 9/17/25 2:00 AM CDT this morning.

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Significant amounts of agricultural lands begin flooding. 

Virginia
Flood Watch remains in effect until further notice.

    • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
    • Impacts: Significant amounts of agricultural lands begin flooding.
