U.S. Weather Update 8.7.25

Summary:
Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan in the Northern Mariana Islands, as Tropical Depression 16W moves towards the islands and strengthens. Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected through Saturday. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across the Northern Plains this afternoon into tonight. A few tornadoes, large hail, and severe winds are expected. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-35, I-96, I-75, I-80, I-90


Montana
Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 7:15 AM MDT.

  • 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
  • Impacts: Hail damage to vehicles is expected.  Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Iowa
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:30 PM CDT this afternoon.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings

South Dakota
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.  Streams continue to stay steady or rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

South Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until Saturday evening.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.  Water over roadways.  Overflowing poor drainage areas.

Minnesota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning.

  • Dense fog Advisory, visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. 

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to:  Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, and  North Dakota

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: California, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota
