U.S. Weather Update 8.6.25

Summary:
Extreme heat will begin to peak across the Desert Southwest. Multiple days of hot, dry and windy conditions are expected to bring fire weather concerns for portions of the Four Corners region into the central Great Basin and Rockies. Heavy rainfall and a flash flooding threat continues in the Southeast. Poor air quality persists from the Upper Midwest into the Northeast due to wildfire smoke. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-40, I-26, I-64, I-85, I-77, I-40, I-75, I-10


South Dakota
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:15 AM CDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers ,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations in imminent or occurring.

North Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:45 AM EDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings

Georgia
Flood Watch remains in effect through late this evening.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban area.
 

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and South Carolina

Additional Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, New Jersey and Virginia

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: Florida and North Carolina
