U.S. Weather Update 8.12.25

Summary:
Heavy to excessive rainfall over the southern Appalachians may bring areas of flooding Tuesday. Hot to extremely hot temperatures are in place through Tuesday across much of the western U.S. and northern New England. Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to become a Major Hurricane by this weekend as it moves across the central Atlantic Ocean. Monitor future forecasts for any East Coast impacts. Impacted Lanes: I-75, I-96, I-94, I-69, I-55, I-40, I-59, I-24, I-39-90.


Texas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 AM CDT.

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Wisconsin
Flood Warning remains in effect until late Thursday morning.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Numerous road closures. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is possible.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8:30 AM CDT this morning.

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

New Mexico
Flood Warning remains in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, and South Dakota.
