U.S. Weather Update 7.24.25

Summary:
Dangerous, long-lasting heat remains across the Mid-South to Mid-Mississippi Valley, while heat expands into the Northeast for a brief period on Friday. Strong to isolated severe thunderstorms and heavy rain pose a flash flooding threat from the southern High Plains east to the Great Lakes. Tropical Depression 12W brings heavy rain to Guam & the Marianas through Saturday.    Impacted Lanes: I-70, I-35, I-40, I-10, I-69, I-80


South Dakota
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations in imminent or occurring.

Nebraska
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8:45 AM CDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.  Water over roadways.

Kansas
Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, and Missouri

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to:  Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and New Mexico
