U.S. Weather Update 7.16.25

Summary:
Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. Deep tropical moisture and associated thunderstorms will bring heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding across portions of Florida into the central Gulf Coast. Impacted Lanes: I-10, I-71, I-80, I-75, I-90


Kentucky
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EDT.

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other low-lying areas.

Minnesota
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:30 AM CDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings

Ohio
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:30 AM EDT this morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.  Some low-water crossings may become impassable.

Louisiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until late Friday evening.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. 

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Texas, Virginia, and North Carolina

Additional Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, and Virginia

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: New Jersey and Wisconsin
