U.S. Weather Update 6.24.25

Summary:
Extremely dangerous heat will persist from the Midwest to the East Coast into late this week. Monsoonal moisture may produce excessive rain and considerable flash flooding and debris flows, especially near recent burn scar areas in New Mexico and west Texas. Severe storms are possible from the southern/central Plains into the Great Lakes and Northeast, and the northern/central Plains today. Impacted Lanes: I-10, I-25, I-29, I-35, I-40, 90, I-62, I-91


Iowa
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM CDT Tuesday.

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Kansas
Flood Warning remain in effect until further notice.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Minor lowland flooding. Several county roads in the area have been reported impassable due to washouts from flooding.

Nebraska
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this Morning.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.  Water over roadways.

New Mexico
Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday evening.

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
