Summary:
Severe thunderstorms are likely today across the northern Plains and into the upper Mississippi Valley. Gusty winds and dry conditions will result in widespread critical fire weather through Saturday across parts of the Four Corners region and the Great Basin. A significant and dangerous heat wave will expand from the Central U.S. into the Eastern U.S this weekend through much of next week. Impacted Lanes: I-29, I-94, I-35, I-75, I-80, I-40, I-22, I-90, I-5.
Iowa
Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 7:15 AM CDT this morning.
- Two inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
- Impacts: People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.
California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 2 AM Sunday morning.
- Southwest winds 35-45 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph.
- Impacts: Mainly to transportation, strong cross winds will be hazardous to light-weight or high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor-trailers.
Texas
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.
- Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
- Impacts: Moderate lowland flooding begins as roads into several counties are closed with residents in many subdivisions cut off if not evacuated. Major lowland flooding begins for many counties areas are experiencing flooding.
Mississippi
Flood Advisory remains in effect until further notice.
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
- Impacts: Minor lowland flooding occurs.
Virginia
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM EDT this morning.
- Visibility one quarter to one half mile in dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
