U.S. Weather Update 12.9.25

Summary:

A prolonged atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall which may lead to widespread urban and river flooding, heavy mountain snow, along with gusty winds to the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies through much of the week. A clipper will bring a period of snow across the upper Midwest and the Great Lakes into Tuesday, before a stronger system bring more wintry impacts.
 

 

Washington

Flood Warning remains in effect from 7 AM today until Friday afternoon. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low lying and flood prone locations.   

 Oregon

Flood Warning remains in effect from 7 AM today until 10 PM this evening. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low lying and flood prone locations.   

Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM today until 7 AM Saturday.

  • Winds gusting from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.  

Idaho

Flood Watch remains in effect from 5 PM this afternoon until Thursday afternoon. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low lying and flood prone locations

Wind Advisory remains in effect from 8 PM today until 8 AM Tuesday.

  • Winds gusting from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.  
Michigan
 

Winter Weather Warning remains in effect until 4 PM today to 4 PM Wednesday.

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations from 4 to 8 inches in some places as much as 11 inches. 
  • Wind gust as high as 35 mph. 
 
New York
 

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 4 PM today through Thursday morning.

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations from 5 to 7 inches. 
  • Higher accumulations of snow at higher elevations. 
 
 
 

Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : California. 

Additional Costal Flooding Advisory included but not limited to : Washington and Oregon.

Additional Winter Storm Watch included but not limited to :  North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. 

Additional Winter Weather Advisory included but not limited to : Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and North Carolina.
