U.S. Weather Update 12.30.25

Summary:

A multi-day heavy lake effect snow event is expected downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario through New Year's Day. The Arctic front will continue to bring increasing winds to the Northeast that will remain gusty. Subfreezing overnight low temperatures will be found as far south as the Gulf Coast.
 

Ohio

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 PM Thursday. 
  • Total snow accumulations up to 24 inches. 
  • Winds gusting as high as 45 mph 
Michigan

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 1 PM this afternoon until midnight. 

  • Snow accumulations between 2 to 5 inches.

Pennsylvania

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 AM Wednesday. 

  • Snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches, with accumulations between 4 and 5 inches across the northern half of the area. 
  • Winds gusting as high as 45 mph creating considerable blowing and drifting snow.   

New York
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 AM Wednesday.
  • Snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches, with accumulations between 4 and 5 inches
  • Wind gusting as high as 45 mph creating considerable blowing and drifting snow
 

Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California.

Additional Winter Storm Warning included but not limited to : New York.

Additional Coastal Flooding included but not limited to : California.  

Additional Wind Advisory included but not limited to : California, Montana, Wyoming, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
