U.S. Weather Update 12.26.25

Summary:

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall has begun over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and will continue through Friday. Travel will become increasingly difficult over the passes due to snow and strong winds.
 

Washington

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM Saturday.  

  • Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, some places might see accumulations as high as 12 inches.
  • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.   
 
Freezing Fog remains in effect until 10 AM today.
  • Low Visibility and freezing fog expected in the Kittitas Valley. 
  • Oregon

    Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 10 AM Wednesday
  •  
  • Total snow accumulations up to 2 to 4 inches.
  • Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • California

    High Wind Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon.
    • South wInds 25 to 35 with gusts of 45mph possible. 
    • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages

    Flood Warning remains in effect through Friday afternoon.

    • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
    • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

    Flash Flood Warning remains in effect through Friday. 

    • Expected rainfall rate is .025 to 1 inch per hour.

    Michigan

    Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through this afternoon. 

    • Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch.
     

    Pennsylvania

    Ice Storm Warning remains in effect from 10 AM to 7 AM Saturday.

    • Snow accumulations less than one inch. 
    • Snow switching to freezing rain with accumulations between two and three tenths of an inch.  
    New York
    Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 1 PM this afternoon through 7 am Saturday.
    • Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches.
     

    Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : Washington, Texas, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa,  Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, and Indian.

    Additional Winter Storm Warning included but not limited to :  California, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut

    Additional Winter Weather Advisory included but not limited to : Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and Wyoming.  

    Additional Wind Advisory included but not limited to : Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming.
