U.S. Weather Update 12.23.25

Summary:

A strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to California through the holiday week. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is likely, as well as mudslides and rockslides in the mountains. A heavy snowfall event will impact the Sierra Nevada mountains through this week, with several feet of snow possible on the highest elevations

 

Washington

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM Wednesday.  

  • Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.
  • Plan on slippery road conditions.   

Oregon

High Wind Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon. 

  • Southeast winds 25 to 35 with gusts of 60 mph.
  • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages.   
 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 10 AM Wednesday
  • .Total snow accumulations up to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

    California

    High Wind Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon.
    • South wInds 25 to 35 with gusts of 60 mph possible. 
    • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages

    Flood Warning remains in effect through Friday afternoon.

    • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
    • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

    Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through Friday. 

    • 1 to 6 inches below 5500 feet.
    • 1 to 3 feet above 5500 feet. 
    • Winds gusting as high as 70 mph. 

    Arizona

    Flood Warning remains in effect through Late Wednesday night. 

    • Flooding caused by excesive rainfall is possible.
    • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 
    Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM Thursday.
    • South wInds 20 to 30 with gusts of 50 mph possible. 
    • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages

    Nevada

    Flood Warning remains in effect through Late Wednesday night. 

    • Flooding caused by excesive rainfall is possible.
    • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 
    Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM Thursday.
    • South wInds 20 to 30 with gusts of 50 mph possible. 
    • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages
     

    Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.

    Additional Winter Storm Warning included but not limited to :  Maine

    Additional Winter Weather Advisory included but not limited to : Idaho, Montana, Utah, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hapmshire, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
