U.S. Weather Update 12.22.25

Summary:

An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to lower elevations of California this week, and heavy snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Flash flooding, some of which may be locally considerable, will be a concern on the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains through Tuesday. Landslides, rockfalls and mudslides are possible in the Southern California mountains

 

Washington

Flood Warning remains in effect through Wednesday morning.  

  • Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Localized to the Skomish River at Potlatch.    

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM this evening.  

  • Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches.
  • Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.   

Oregon

High Wind Watch remains in effect through Tuesday night. 

  • Southeast winds 25 to 35 with gusts of 60 mph.
  • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages.   

California

remains in effect through Friday morning.Winter Storm Watch
  • Heavy snow possible. Accumulation amounts from 1 foot to as much as six feet at higher elevations.
  • Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. 
High Wind Watch remains in effect through Tuesday night.
  • South wInds 25 to 35 with gusts of 60 mph possible. 
  • High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages

Flood Warning remains in effect until Noon Monday.

  • Between 3 and 7 inches of rain has fallen.
  • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

Arizona

Flood Warning remains in effect through Late Wednesday night. 

  • Flooding caused by excesive rainfall is possible.
  • Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

Maine

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon.
  • Heavy snow possible. Accumulation amounts from greater than 6 inches.
 

Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : Texas, Wyoming,  Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Additional Winter Storm Warning included but not limited to :  Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, California, and Washington

Additional Coastal Flood Advisory included but not limited to : Washington.

Additional Winter Storm Advisory included but not limited to : Idaho, Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
