U.S. Weather Update 12.18.25

Summary:

A powerful storm will shift from the Upper Midwest to eastern Canada through Friday with areas of snow/localized blizzard conditions, high winds, and gusty showers and thunderstorms. An atmospheric river will impact Oregon and northern California Thursday and Friday with heavy to excessive rain which may bring new or renewed flooding.

 

Washington

Flood Warning remains in effect until Friday evening. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of the Snohomish River.   
 

Oregon

Flood Watch remains in effect until Saturday morning. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of the Klickitat River. 

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Wednesday night through Thursday evening.

  • Heavy snow accumulations up to 7 inches.  
  • Winds gusting from 20 to 30 mph.    
 

Montana

Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 4 PM this afternoon through 6 AM Thursday.  

  • Heavy snow possible, with total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.  
  • Winds gusting as high as 70 mph. 
  • Plan on slippery road conditions, whiteout conditions, and drifting snow. 
North Dakota 
 
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until  6 PM Thursday evening.
  • Heavy snow possible, with total accumulations of 1 to 4 inches.  
  • Winds gusting as high as 70 mph. 
  • Plan on slippery road conditions, whiteout conditions, and drifting snow.
  • Minnesota 
     
    Blizzard Warning remains in effect until  6 PM Thursday evening.
  • Heavy snow possible, with total accumulations of 1 to 4 inches.  
  • Winds gusting as high as 70 mph. 
  • Plan on slippery road conditions, whiteout conditions, and drifting snow.

    Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : California, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Florida.

    Additional High Wind Warning included but not limited to :  Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland,  Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

    Additional Winter Storm Warning included but not limited to :  Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Minnesota

    Additional Coastal Flood Advisory included but not limited to : Washington and New York.
