U.S. Weather Update 12.16.25

Summary:

A second Pacific cold front will cross the Pacific Northwest Wednesday followed by another atmospheric river. Each of these features will bring additional periods of gusty winds, mountain snow, and heavy to excessive rainfall with renewed flooding. Heavy lake effect snow continues into Tuesday east of Lakes Erie and Ontario
 

 

Washington

Flood Warning remains in effect until early Thursday morning. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Excessive runoff may result in flooding of the Skykomish River.   

High Wind Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening until 6 AM Wednesday morning. 

  • Southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts between 50 to 60.   

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 4 PM this evening through 10 PM Wednesday evening. 

  • Heavy snow accumulations of 10 to 15 inches. 
  • Winds gusting as high as 65 mph.    

Oregon

Flood Watch remains in effect from late Wednesday night through late Friday night. 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
 

Wyoming

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through Wednesday evening. 

  • Heavy snow possible, with total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches with higher accumulations at higher elevations.  
  • Westerly winds gusting 40 to 60 mph. 
 
New York
 
Lake Effect Snow Advisoryremains in effect from 1 PM today through Tuesday evening.
  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations from 2 to 4 inches.
  • Plan on snow-covered and slippery road conditions with reduced visibility.

    Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to : California.

    Additional High Wind Warning included but not limited to :  Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nevada, Colorado, and Wyoming 

    Additional Cold Weather Advisory included but not limited to : Georgia and South Carolina.       

    Additional Flood Watch included but not limited to :  Montana
