U.S. Weather Update 1.30.26

Summary:

A powerful Arctic blast will bring dangerously cold, record low temperatures to the Gulf Coast, upper Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast U.S. into this weekend. A rapidly deepening storm centered just off the North Carolina coast Friday night through Saturday night will produce widespread heavy snow and wind from the southern Appalachians across the Carolinas and southern Virginia.

 

 

Louisiana

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.   

  • Minor flooding is forecast. 

Mississippi

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice. 

  • Minor flooding is forecast. 

Tennessee

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 1 pm Friday through 1 am Sunday.  

  • Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches are possible.

Georgia

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 7 pm Friday through 1 am Sunday.  

  • Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are possible.
  • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. 

South Carolina

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 1 am Saturday through 4 pm Sunday.  

  • Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches are possible.

North Carolina

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 10 pm Friday through 4 pm Sunday.  

  • Total snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches are possible.
  • Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. 

Virginia

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 1 pm Friday through 1 pm Sunday.  

  • Total snow accumulations between 5 and 7 inches are possible.
  • Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. 

Illinois

Flood Advisory remains in effect until further notice. 

  • Flooding caused by ice jam continues. 

  • Effected rivers, Kankakee and Iroquois. 

Indiana

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 3 pm tonight 6 pm Saturday.

  • Snow accumulations between 2 to 6 inches today.

 

Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to:   California, Oregon, and Washington. 

Additional High Wind Watch included but not limited to: Montana.

Additional Coastal Flood Advisory included but not limited to: California. 

Additional Winter Weather Advisory included but not limited to: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, and New York.
