U.S. Weather Update 1.27.26

Summary:

Well below normal temperatures will continue for the eastern half of the Lower 48 this week. Another blast of arctic air will spread from the Plains through the East/Southeast Friday into Saturday with more record lows expected even into Florida. Forecasts are being monitored for increasing potential of another significant winter storm to impact the eastern United States this coming weekend.
 
 

Mississippi

Flood Warning remains in effect until early Wednesday afternoon. 

  • Minor flooding is forecast. 

Alabama

Flood Warning remains in effect until midnight. 

  • Minor flooding of the Paint Rock River. 

New York

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect from 7 am Tuesday until 7 pm Thursday.

  • Snow accumulations between 6 to 16 inches today.  

Additional Dense Fog Advisory included but not limited to:   California and Texas. 

Additional High Wind Warning included but not limited to: Oregon and California. 

Additional Winter Weather Advisory included but not limited to: Indiana, Michigan, and New York.

Additional Cold Weather Watch included but not limited to: New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky,  Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.
