Weather Update 9.7.21 - U.S.

Posted by Jarrett on Sep 7, 2021 7:30:04 AM

Summary: Hurricane Larry - currently a Category 3 storm - is moving northwest across the Atlantic, and is expected to approach Bermuda during the next couple of days before producing significant swells along the East Coast. Meanwhile, another heat wave is expected this week for a large portion of the West into the central High Plains and Texas, and a cold front will likely trigger some severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail, heavy rain and tornado or two across portions of the Great Lakes on Tuesday. Embargoes are still in place on freight destined for coastal Louisiana including New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Hurricane Larry
Swells from Larry will continue to affect the Lesser and Greater Antilles and the Bahamas through midweek. Significant swells should reach the east coast of the Unites States and Atlantic Canada by midweek and continue affecting these shores through the end of the week. These swells will likely cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Invest 91L
A tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is not likely to undergo significant development, but it will enhance rainfall along portions of the northern U.S. Gulf Coast and Southeast.
