U.S. Weather Update 9.6.22

Summary:
Oppressive heat with the potential for dozens of record high temperatures persists across the West.  Heavy rain and localized flash flooding will be possible from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Impacted Lanes: I-76, I-476

Pennsylvania
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:00 AM today

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Between  2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. 
    The expected rainfall rate
    is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
    inches are possible in the warned area.
  • Impacts: Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other, drainage and low lying areas.
  • Highways Impacted: Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 308 and 346. Interstate 76 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 327 and 342. Interstate 476 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 3 and 19. Northeast Extension between mile markers 21 and 38.

Flash Advisory remains in effect until 12:00 PM EST today.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Kentucky
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 AM EST this morning.

  • What: Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
     

Additional Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: New York, Connecticut, Delaware, and New Jersey

Additional Dense Fog Advisory include but are not limited to: Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois
