U.S. Weather Update 9.26.22

Summary:
There is a risk that Ian will bring dangerous storm surge, hurricane-force winds, and heavy rainfall along the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle by the middle of this week. Flash and urban flooding is possible with rainfall across the Florida Keys and the Florida peninsula through the middle of the week. Residents in Florida should ensure they have their hurricane plan in place. 


Florida 
Hurricane Warning remains in effect until 9 PM EDT Friday evening

  • Today: NE winds 12to 17 mph. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. 
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable due to rain
  • Ian is expected to be a major hurricane in the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the middle of the week. Later in the week, there is a risk of a life-threatening storm surge, hurricane force winds, and heavy rainfall along the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle.
