U.S. Weather Update 9.23.22

Summary:
Large swells generated by Hurricane Fiona are causing life-threatening surf and rip current conditions along much of the East Coast during the next few days while high winds may impact eastern Maine late Friday into Saturday. Gale Warnings, Rip Current Statements, High Wind Watches, and High Surf Advisories are in effect. Impacted Lanes: I-80, Highways: 2,37,56, and 93


Montana
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT this morning

  • Visibility below one quarter of a mile in dense fog.
  • Where: Highway 2 Kalispell to Libby, Highway 37 Eureka to Libby, Highway 56 Bull Lake Road, and Highway 93 Eureka to Whitefish.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 PM MDT this afternoon

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph.
  • Where: Interstate 80
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight and high profile vehicles.

Maine
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8PM EDT Saturday evening

  • Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
