U.S. Weather Update 9.13.23

Summary:
Jova remnants continue producing strong thunderstorms with heavy rain in the Southwest and 4-Corners area. An approaching cold front will produce another round of heavy showers and strong thunderstorms in the Northeast and into the Mid-Atlantic. Swells from Major Hurricane Lee continue producing dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents along the East Coast, Puerto Rico, and USVI Impacted Lanes: I-10, I-25, I-88, I-87, I-84, I-91, I-291, I-90, I-89, I-93, I-70, I-71, I-77


New Mexico
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7:15 AM MDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of recent burn scars, as well as rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Ohio
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility a quarter of a mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. 

Connecticut
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 :45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island

Additional Flash Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Massachusetts, and Arizona

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: North Dakota, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky
