Posted by Jarrett on Aug 13, 2021 9:49:01 AM

Summary: What is currently Tropical Depression Fred  is currently centered near the north coast of Cuba. It is tracking toward the west-northwest at 10 mph and is forecast to restrengthen into a Tropical Storm, cross the Florida Keys on Saturday, and then move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico, spreading tropical rains to the Florida Peninsula today and through the weekend. From today into Monday, heavy rain could lead to areal, urban, small stream, and exacerbated river flooding across southern and central Florida into the Big Bend. From Sunday onward, heavy rain and flood impacts could extend into other portions of the Southeast and into southern and central Appalachians and Piedmont. The heavy rain  should be the main threat with Fred, as its winds are currently forecast to stay under 50 mph. The risk of tropical storm conditions will continue to spread northward along the Florida west coast and to the Florida Panhandle Sunday and Monday.  Current Advisories: Florida
