Weather Update 7.8.21 - U.S.

Summary: Elsa is tracking through the Southeast U.S. after its Florida landfall, and will spread heavy rain, gusty winds and the threat of a few tornadoes across parts of southeast Georgia and South Carolina  today before pushing up the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday and Northeast by Friday. Torrential downpours throughout parts of South Texas may bring widespread, possibly life-threatening, flash flooding to the area. Excessive heat and fire weather threats are impacting the West. Current Advisories: Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts

  • 3-5 inches of rain, locally up to 8
  • 39+mph sustained winds
  • Spin-off tornadoes possible
North Carolina

  • 2-4 inches of rain, locally up to 6
