Summary: Elsa is expected pass near the Florida Keys early Tuesday and move near or over portions of the west coast of Florida. Tropical storm conditions, dangerous storm surge, and heavy rainfall are possible along the Florida Keys and portions of the west coast; along with isolated tornadoes in Florida. Current Advisories: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina

Florida
Tropical Storm Warning
Tropical Storm conditions are expected today across portions of the Florida Keys and the west coast of the state
  • Warning in place from Craig Key westward to the Dry Tortugas, and from Flamingo to the west coast from Ochlocknee River near Apalachicola, including:
    • Key West
    • Marco Island
    • Naples
    • Sanibel Island
    • Sarasota-Bradenton
    • Tampa-St. Petersburg
  • 3-5 inches of rain, locally up to 8 inches
  • 39+mph winds 
  • 3-5ft storm surge possible from Englewood to the mouth of the Aucilla River, including Tampa Bay. 
Hurricane Watch
Hurricane conditions are possible tonight and early Wednesday across west-central and big bend Florida 
  • From Egmont Key to the Steinhatchee River
Tropical Storm Watch
Tropical Storm conditions are possible late Wednesday and early Thursday
  • From Indian Pass, near Apalachicola, Florida, and eastward into inland North Florida. 
Georgia and South Carolina
​Tropical Storm Watch
​Tropical Storm conditions are possible late Wednesday and early Thursday along the Georgia and South Carolina coast
  • From St. Marys River, Georgia, to South Santee River, South Carolina
  • 3-5 inches of rain, locally up to 8 inches
 
Elsa became the first hurricane of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season on July 2, almost six weeks earlier than the average date of the season's first Atlantic hurricane.
