U.S. Weather Update 7.30.24

Summary:
Scattered strong to severe storms will be possible across portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley as well as across the central Dakotas. Heavy to excessive rainfall may bring flooding to the Mid-Mississippi, Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, and the northern Mid-Atlantic. Hot to excessively hot temperatures are expected over the central and southern Plains much of this week. Impacted Lanes: I-81, I-26, I-75


Vermont
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:15 AM EDT this morning

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Michigan
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Illinois
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one-quarter of a mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Tennessee
Flood Watch remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roads, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
