Summary:
A dangerous heat wave, with widespread excessive heat warnings, heat advisories, and record breaking temperatures will continue to impact the Northwestern U.S. the rest of the week into the upcoming weekend. Excessive rainfall is expected to lead to flooding near the central High Plains and across the Ohio Valley.

 

West Virginia 

 Flood Warning
  • Flash Flood Warning  in effect until 10:30 AM EDT this morning
    • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues
    • Impacts: One lane of U.S. Route 60 remains closed at Rupert due to high water flooding

 

Kentucky

Flood Warning
  • Flood Warning in effect until 2:15 PM EDT this afternoon
    • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected
    • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring

 

Virginia

Flash Flood Warning / Flood Warning
  • Flash Flood Warning in effect until noon EDT today
    • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain
    • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring
  • Flood Warning in effect until 11 AM EDT
    • Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly
