U.S. Weather Update 7.18.24

Summary:
Heavy to excessive rainfall may bring flooding today to parts of the southern Rockies, eastern Mid-Atlantic, and ArkLaTex regions. Dangerous heat will redevelop Friday through this weekend into next week over much of southern California and the Desert Southwest. Dry thunderstorms continue to pose a threat for new wildfire starts across parts of the Great Basin today and Friday. Impacted Lanes: I-35, I-45, I-69, I-49


Alabama
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Texas
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:45 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

New Mexico
Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Friday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roads, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
