U.S. Weather Update 7.10.23

Summary:
The clash of a relatively strong summer cold front with an anomalous plume of tropical moisture sets the stage for a high risk of excessive rain and flooding on Monday in the Northeast. Organized areas of heavy rain with thunderstorms are expected to produce intense rain rates and the potential for significant flooding across parts of New England, especially in Vermont. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-87, I-91, I-93, I-95, I-495, I-395


Vermont
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 2:30 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 PM EDT Tuesday afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff from heavy rain may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding is also possible.

New York
Flood Warning remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 5 PM EDT Tuesday evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff from heavy rain may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding is also possible.

Tennessee
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility of one-quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
