U.S. Weather Update 6.30.23

Summary:
Oppressive heat and humidity will continue across the Lower Mississippi Valley and Mid-South through Saturday, with max heat indices exceeding 110 degrees. Excessive heat is also expected from central California into the Desert Southwest Friday into this weekend. Poor air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires will show a slight improvement Friday from the Great Lakes to the mid-Atlantic. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-70, I-80, I-29, I-35, I-75, I-81, I-77, I-40, I-79


Kentucky
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Water over roadways. 

California
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Very low visibility will create dangerous driving conditions.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Tuesday evening

  • Flooding caused by snowmelt continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff due to rapid snowmelt may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may impact roads.

Wyoming
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM MDT today

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 12 PM MDT today

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways.
