U.S. Weather Update 6.27.24

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms capable of very large hail and damaging wind gusts around 80 mph are forecast across portions of the central and northern Plains today into the nighttime hours; Furthermore, locally heavy rainfall may result in isolated instances of flash flooding. Monsoon-like conditions persist for the Four Corners Region where additional flooding is possible through tonight. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-29, I-94, I-70, I-25, I-40, I-86, I-84, I-15, I-10, I-65


Florida
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Nebraska
Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Tuesday evening

  • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: At 33.0 feet, Portions of Highway 34 and Interstate 29 will be closed due to flooding.

Idaho
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around. Blowing dust is likely, especially near plowed fields. Blowing dust could cause reduced visibilities.

Colorado
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may become flooded. Water over roadways is expected.
