U.S. Weather Update 6.19.23

Summary:
A blistering heat wave with excessive heat warnings and heat advisories will continue in Texas, Louisiana, and the vicinity over the coming days. Meanwhile, strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall will be common the next few days in the Southeastern quadrant of the U.S. Gusty winds will impact parts of the West and aid in Critical fire weather conditions in the Southwest. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-5, I-80, I-15, I-40, I-10, I-210, I-70, I-84, I-55, I-65


Utah
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult due to crosswinds, especially for high profile vehicles and vehicles with trailers. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. A few power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult due to crosswinds, especially for high profile vehicles and vehicles with trailers.

Colorado
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM MDT Thursday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. 

Alabama
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM CDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
