Summary: Over the last several days, a storm system has been organizing over the southern Gulf of Mexico. Now moving towards the US Gulf Coast, the currently named "Potential Tropical Cyclone Three" is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm later today, with a northeastward motion across the southeastern United States likely after landfall. Additionally, sweltering temperatures resulting in Excessive Heat advisories is continuing in parts of the West and Central Plains due to a large dome of stationary high pressure.
