Weather Update 6.18.21 - U.S.

Summary: Over the last several days, a storm system has been organizing over the southern Gulf of Mexico. Now moving towards the US Gulf Coast, the currently named "Potential Tropical Cyclone Three" is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm later today, with a northeastward motion across the southeastern United States likely after landfall. Active Advisories: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida

Tropical Storm conditions expected to begin today along areas of the central Gulf Coast
  • Intracoastal City, LA to Okaloosa/Walton County line, FL
    • Including New Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola
  • Heavy Rainfall
  • Flash, urban, and small stream Flooding
  • Continuing through the weekend

Additionally, sweltering temperatures resulting in Excessive Heat advisories is continuing in parts of the West and Central Plains due to a large dome of stationary high pressure.
