Weather Update 6.17.22

Summary:
Scattered severe thunderstorms will spread across the Ohio Valley and into Upstate New York into this evening. Large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes can be expected. Excessive heat is in place today over the mid-Mississippi Valley and southern Arizona. Another round of excessive heat is expected to spread from the northern Plains into the Southeast U.S. from Saturday into mid next week.

 

California

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory now in effect until 9 PM PDT this evening
    • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
      • Localized higher gusts possible in wind prone locations
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result

 

Nevada

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect from 9 PM this morning to 11 PM PDT this evening
    • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
      • Localized higher gusts possible in wind prone locations
    • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities at times, which in turn could make travel challenging

 

Utah

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect from 10 AM this morning to 10 PM MDT this evening
    • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected
    • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust are expected across the area may suddenly and significantly reduce visibility in some locations. This includes areas along I-15.

 

Montana

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect from 9 AM this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening
    • South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected
    • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

 

North Dakota & South Dakota

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT this evening
    • Southeast winds around 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
    • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles
