Weather Update 6.15.22

Summary: Dangerous and record heat will persist in the Midwest to the Southeast, impacting nearly a third of the U.S. population. Scattered severe thunderstorms and localized flash flooding are expected across parts of the Upper Midwest.

 

Montana

High Wind Warning / Flood Warning / Winter Weather Advisory
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening
    • West at 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph
    • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel
      will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles
  • Flood Warning now in effect until tomorrow morning
    • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast
      • This approaches the flood of record
    • Impacts: Possible road closures
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon MDT Today
    • Wet snow for elevations above 6000 feet
      • Additional snow accumulations up to two inches
    • Winds gusting as high as 55 mph
    • Impacts: Travel will continue to be difficult through this morning`s commute, especially over Kings Hill Pass and Deep Creek Pass. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to snow-loaded trees and power line.

 

North Dakota

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening
    • West winds to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected
    • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Briefly stronger wind gusts will be possible with any showers that develop.

 

South Dakota

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning in effect from 11 AM this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening
    • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected
    • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris

 

Additional Flood Advisories include but not limited to the following: Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and Arkansas

 

Costal Flood Warnings include buy not limited to the following: Delaware, New Jersey, and New York
