Summary: Dangerous, record-setting heat is expected to extend from the Midwest to the Southeast through midweek. Severe thunderstorms are expected over parts of the northern/central Plains, the Midwest, and the Mid-Atlantic

California

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM PDT this morning
    • North winds 25 to 40 mph with damaging gusts up to 60 mph expected
      • The winds will be strongest near and through the I-5 corridor
    • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down large objects such as trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Major roadways impacted by the strong winds include Interstate 5 as well as Highways 14 and 33

 

Idaho

Flood Warning / Wind Advisory
  • Flood Warning remains in effect until Wednesday morning
    • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast
    • Impacts: Flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is expected. Mud slides, rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain or near recent burn scars is possible.
  • Wind Advisory in effect form 8 AM this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening
    • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around

 

Montana

High Wind Warning / Winter Storm Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until Midnight MDT tonight
    • West winds gusting 50 to 60 mph expected
    • Impacts: Damaging winds may blow down or damage trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Highway 191 from Big Timber through Judith
      Gap.
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Wednesday above 5000 ft
    • Heavy snow for elevations above 5000 feet.
      • Additional snow accumulations of up to 10 inches from 5000 feet to 6000 feet
      • Between 10 and 20 inches from 6000+ feet
    • Winds gusting as high as 70 mph
    • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult due to high snowfall rate and will quickly lead to snow covered routes

 

Wyoming

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening
    • West winds 30 to 40 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH expected
    • Impacts: Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight and high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers

 

Oklahoma

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory in effect from 8 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening
    • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 40 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result
