Weather Update 5.20.22

Summary
The threat of severe thunderstorms will exist in the Midwest and Ohio Valley through Friday. Elevated to critical fire weather conditions will be in place across the Four-Corners through the weekend. Early season heat with likely record high temperatures will spread from the South into the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast on Friday, Saturday and perhaps Sunday.


California

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM PDT this afternoon
    • For the Wind Advisory, west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected
    • Impacts: Patchy blowing dust may reduce visibility at times. Gusty winds could impact high profile vehicles.
         

Idaho

Wind Advisory 
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT this morning
    • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 2 inches below 5000 feet
      • 2 to 4 inches above 5000 feet with up to 10 inches in the higher terrain
    • Impacts: Travel may be impacted

 
Montana
Winter Storm Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon today above 4000 feet
    • Heavy snow above 4000 feet. Additional snow accumulations 2 to 5 inches
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions
 
Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon Saturday
    • Heavy mountain snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 15 inches possible
    • Impacts: Mountain travel may be difficult or impossible due to icy, snow packed roads and low visibilities in falling and blowing snow

 

Colorado

Winter Storm Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning in effect from noon today through Saturday morning
    • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12and 24 inches
    • Impacts: Roads will likely become slick and hazardous. Heavy snow will accumulate on tree branches and powerlines, possibly causing them to break and lead to power outages

Texas

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory in effect until 6 PM CDT this evening
    • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
