U.S. Weather Update 5.14.25

Summary:
An early season heat wave will bring record-breaking temperatures to parts of Texas through this weekend into next week. Thunderstorms and flooding in the Mid-Atlantic region will continue overnight into Wednesday. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are possible over parts of the Dakotas and Nebraska Wednesday. Elevated to critical fire conditions continue in the Southern Plains. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-15, I-25, I-40, I-20, I-10, I-27, I-41, I-43, I-94, I-70, I-74, I-69, I-65, I-35, I-81, I-64, I-95


Montana
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Periods of heavy snow. Additional accumulations of 1 to 2 feet. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts:  Roadways and mountain passes will be hazardous. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 4 inches
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

New Mexico
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • Visibility between one quarter mile and one mile in blowing dust expected. West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Indiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of creeks, streams, low lying spots on roads and construction zones, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11:45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Kansas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility quarter of a mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
