U.S. Weather Update 5.1.23

Summary:
A slow-moving storm system will continue rounds of low elevation rain showers and higher elevation rain/snow over the Ohio Valley and Northeast through midweek. Heavy wet snow on the backside of this storm could accumulate up to two feet through Monday across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dry, gusty winds will promote critical fire weather over southern Arizona Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-29, I-80, I-41, I-43, I-39, I-94, I-96, I-196, I-93, I-95


Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Tuesday evening

  • Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities making travel challenging at times.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Strong cross wind on Interstate 80 and US 50 may make travel difficult for high profile vehicles. A few power outages are possible. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities making travel challenging at times.

Wisconsin
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 AM CDT Tuesday morning

  • Wet snow, heavy at times. Additional accumulations between 3 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph .
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM CDT Tuesday morning

  • Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Maine
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from heavy rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning 

  • East winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and powerlines. Isolated power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
