U.S. Weather Update 4.24.24

Summary:
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds will be possible through Tuesday evening across northwest Texas. The combination of dry conditions and gusty winds have led to elevated to critical fire weather concerns across southern Colorado and Guam. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-15, I-40, I-10, I-25, I-55, I-24, I-64


New Mexico
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT Thursday evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Power outages will be possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT Thursday evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Mississippi
Flood Warning remains in effect until 3 PM CDT Sunday afternoon

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways. 

Maryland
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • One foot of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Water over roadways. 

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Water over roadways. Some roads may be closed. 

Missouri
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one quarter mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Additional Wind Advisories include but are not limited to:  Arizona, California, and Nevada

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Nevada, Louisiana, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Idaho

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois
