U.S. Weather Update 4.19.24

Summary:
A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible across the Southeast U.S. Friday. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) outlook has been issued. Strong winds and hail will be the main threats. Elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions will persist across south-central Colorado today due to dry conditions and gusty winds. Impacted Lanes: I-70, I-22, I-65, I-20, I-85, I-26, I-40


Colorado
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT Saturday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 10 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.

Alabama
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PDT Saturday morning

  • Sustained northwest winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts near 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult, particularly for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities at times.

Mississippi
Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 PM CDT Saturday evening

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways.
