Weather Update 4.15.22

Summary: An unsettled pattern continues from portions of the Southern Plains into the Southeast with isolated instances of severe weather and/or flash flooding possible into the weekend. A series of storms will bring low elevation rain, mountain snow, and some strong winds to the Pacific Northwest and northern California into the Rockies into early next week

Washington

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PDT this morning
    • Snow. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches
      • Local amounts possibly ranging from 3 to 6 inches
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions

Oregon

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until Saturday afternoon
    • Snow expected above 3000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. Blowing and drifting snow possible

 

California

Winter Weather Advisory / High Wind Warning
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect now until 2 PM PDT Saturday 
    • Total snow accumulations of 3 to 9 inches
    • Isolated amounts up to 12 inches over higher elevations
    • Winds gusting as high as 55 mph
    • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage
  • High Wind Warning in effect now to 5 PM PDT Saturday
    • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected
      • Wind prone areas along Highway 395 may gust to 75 mph at times
    • Ridgetop gusts will exceed 100 mph
    • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

 

Idaho

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PDT Friday
    • Snow. Additional snow accumulations 1 to 3 inches
      • Locally up to 3 to 6 inches is possible
    • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions

 

Nevada

Winter Weather Advisory / Wind Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 2 PM PDT Saturday
    • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches
      • 6 to 12 inches along and west of Highway 89
    • Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph
      • Ridgetop winds will gust up to 100 mph at times
    • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage
  • Wind Advisory in effect until 5 PM  PDT Saturday
    • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected
      • Wind prone areas could see gusts exceed 65 mph
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Travel could be difficult especially for high profile vehicles
