U.S. Weather Update 4.14.23

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms capable of producing very large hail and damaging gusts are possible over a portion of the central and southern Plains. Dry, gusty winds will support elevated to critical fire weather conditions in the Southern High Plains into the weekend. Numerous potential record-tying/breaking highs are possible from the Lower Great Lakes through the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-595, I-70, I-80


Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
  • Impacts: Historic rainfall has occurred in the Fort Lauderdale metro area the past 36 hours. Despite the heavy rain coming to an end this evening, numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Montana
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.
  • Impacts: Water over roadways.

Colorado 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT Saturday morning

  • Snow expected, heavy at times this afternoon into this evening. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Snow covered roads will make travel hazardous, especially through mountain passes. Use caution when traveling. Difficult travel conditions are likely during the Friday evening commute.

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Saturday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding between 1 and 2 feet above normal tide expected. 
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected, especially during high tide cycles.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday evening

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Water over roadways.

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, North Dakota and South Dakota

Additional Coastal Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Mississippi

Additional Winter Weather Advisories include but are not limited to: Wyoming
