Heavy rain in northern New England may cause flash and minor river flooding impacts due to the combination of rainfall and recent snowmelt. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-85, I-20, I-385, I-95, I-77, I-40, I-81, I-72, I-55, I-57, I-70, I-69, I-74, I-71, I-271, I-80, I-90, I-76, I-695

New Hampshire
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain and snowmelt.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small streams. Rapid runoff falling running over steep terrain will lead to washouts. The flood conditions will worsen through the late morning hours as snowmelt accelerates. Water over roadways.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Heavy rainfall along with warm and humid conditions will cause rapid melting of the snowpack from the foothills northward. This will increase runoff into streams and rivers. Moderate to heavy rainfall over partially frozen ground will support the potential for flash flooding as well as river flooding. Disruption to travel is likely on Friday.

Virginia
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EDT Saturday evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

  • Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property will experience shallow flooding.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this afternoon

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water will be around 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.
