Summary: Moderate to heavy snow showers will continue to impact the northern Great Basin Tuesday before spreading into the central High Plains by Wednesday. Much below normal temperatures are expected across the northern Rockies, Great Basin, and Northern Plains by Wednesday. Impacted: I-15, I-25, I-70, I-80, and I-90

Major lanes of concern

  • Interstate 15 from Great Falls, Montana, to the Interstate 70 junction in Utah
  • Interstate 25 from Denver to Buffalo, Wyoming
  • Interstate 70 from the Interstate 15 junction in Utah to Russell, Kansas
  • Interstate 80 from Hastings, Nebraska, to Salt Lake City
  • Interstate 90 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Buffalo, Wyoming

 

Oregon

Winter Weather advisory

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST Wednesday.
  • Snow. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches
  • Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute
  • Impacts: Highway 395 & Highway 26
 
Nevada
Winter Weather Advisory
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST Wednesday.
  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches
    • Mountain snow accumulations of 4 to 12+ inches
  • Winds gusting 30 to 45 mph, likely leading to some blowing and drifting snow
  • The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and will lead to areas of blowing and drifting snow.
 
Idaho
Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from  5 PM this afternoon to 5 PM MST Wednesday. Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Wednesday impacting the southeast.
  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with 6 to 12 inches in the mountains.
  • Wind gusts up to 40 MPH
  • Plan on slippery road conditions. The combination of snow and gusty winds will result in reduced visibility on roadways.
  • Impacts: Highway 93 & Highway 51 near Nevada
 
Montana
Winter Weather Advisory
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM MST this evening.
  • Snow. Additional accumulation of 2 to 5 inches
  • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
  • Roads will likely become slick and hazardous with poor visibility
  • Impacts: US-191
 
Utah
Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 PM MST Wednesday. Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Wednesday.
  • Winter Weather Advisory - Snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 7 to 17 inches expected
    • Impacts: Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, Western Uinta Mountains and Central Mountains
    • Occasional blowing snow is possible with winds gusting as high as 35 mph
  • Winter Storm Warning - Heavy snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches with locally higher amounts
    • Impacts: Wasatch Mountains I-80 North
 
Wyoming
Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to 6 PM MST Wednesday. Winter Storm Warning in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to 5 PM MST Wednesday.
  • Winter Weather Advisory - Snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches expected
    • Occasional blowing snow is possible with winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Roads will likely become slick and hazardous with poor visibility
    • Impacts: I-80 
  • Winter Storm Warning - Heavy snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18  inches with locally higher amounts
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Dangerous travel conditions possible due to icy, snow packed roads and reduced visibilities in falling and blowing snow
    • Impacts: Western and southeastern Wyoming, I-80 North
 
Colorado
Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 5 PM MST Wednesday. Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM MST Thursday.
  • Winter Weather Advisory - Snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches
    • Winds gusting as high as 45 MPH
  • Winter Storm Warning - Heavy snow expected
    • Total snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches with locally higher amounts
      • Locally higher amounts up to 2 feet 
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 MPH
    • Impacts: Wasatch Mountains I-80 North
  • Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially on ridge tops

 

North Dakota

Winter Weather Advisory / Wind Advisory
Advisories remain in effect from 6 PM CST this evening.
  • Snow and blowing snow. Total snow accumulations up to one inch
  • Northwest winds to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
  • Plan on slippery road conditions with blow ice possible
    • Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility creating isolated whiteout conditions in open country

 

Nebraska

Winter Storm Warning
Warning in effect from 11 AM this morning to 5 AM MST Thursday
  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches
  • Sierra Madre and Snowy Ranges to include Centennial and Albany

 

 

Florida & Georgia

Dense Fog Advisory
Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EST this morning.
  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog
    • Areas of dense fog will linger into the late morning hours
  • Portions of south central and southwest Georgia and the Big Bend and Panhandle of Florida
  • Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility
