Weather Update 3.8.21 - U.S.

A relatively quiet stretch of weather is expected across much of the Continental U.S. with the exception of the West Coast where rain and higher elevation snow will impact the Northwest and northern California through Tuesday. A critical fire weather risk is expected in Kansas and elevated in the surrounding areas. Record high temperatures are possible across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Active Advisories: California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota

Snow expected to begin today above 2000ft in northwest CA
  • 4-12 inches of snow
  • From 1 PM this afternoon to 4 AM PST Wednesday
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible this week across the Sierra Nevada
  • 1-2 feet of snow
  • Locally higher amounts
  • From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon
Will likely impact transit along I-80 including through Donner Pass
 
Idaho
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected this afternoon across the central panhandle
  • 2-4 inches of snow
  • From 2 PM Monday to 11 AM MST Tuesday
Montana
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected this evening across north central and western MT
  • 1-3 inches of snow
  • From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM MST Tuesday
Wyoming
Winter Storm Watch
Moderate to heavy snow possible tomorrow evening across central and eastern WY
  • 4-9 inches of snow
  • From Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon
South Dakota
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible tomorrow evening across southwest SD
  • 6+ inches of snow
  • From Tuesday Night through Wednesday afternoon
