U.S. Weather Update 3.6.24

Summary:
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms could occur today across parts of the southern Plains, with large hail and gusty winds possible. A coastal storm will bring heavy rainfall and the threat of isolated flash flooding across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today. Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue the elevated threat for wildfires in the central and southern High Plains today. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-80, I-15, I-86, I-84, I-29, I-94, I-10, I-55, I-59, I-20, I-91, I-95, I-90


Georgia
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Wyoming
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult on roads.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult over Teton Pass during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Mississippi
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

South Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CST this evening

  • Southwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Massachusetts 
Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Flooding of urban areas, including those places that normally flood in heavy rain, can be expected. Some rivers and streams may also flood nearby areas. Water over roadways is expected. 

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island

Additional Winter Storm Warnings  include but are not limited to: Idaho

Additional Winter Weather Advisories include but are not limited to: Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Minnesota

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Idaho, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia
